Interesting article. It takes a while though to learn how to make money from a site and learn the tech side of it, doesnt happen in a day even if you hire someone to do it.

For those who dont have passive income already finding a job is still required. Even in the States you can live with a $1,000 income a month if you live below your means, in 90% of the world you can live really well with that monthly income.

I think Steve answered the question very well – when we left the States the first few times, our living expenses were high and in order to earn enough to keep up with them, we had to return to the higher paying jobs in the States, besides that we weren’t yet aware of the opportunities available for earning abroad.

Since that time, we have taken international positions (my husband worked for a non-profit organization in India and will also be teaching English as a second language online). We’ve also learned how to create income through our websites and through freelance work (travel writing, etc.), so returning to the States for work is not a necessity any longer.

I think that this is what many people do simply because it is very difficult to make the kind of money outside of the states that you can here. It certainly is not impossible. And it’s easier to earn a substantial income in some places throughout the world then others. Some places, like Guatemala just do not offer the opportunity to earn a lot for someone who is just passing through or staying temporarily. I think if someone were to move to Guatemala and establish residency there, they could set up a business that catered to American tourists and investors and make a living.

However, the internet has now made it possible to earn an income no matter where you live and many more people are living this way. There income is not earned where they live, but instead over the internet, enabling them to stay on the road and not come home. This is what the Dennings do now.

I find it interesting that you seem to have to come back to the US each time you need money. A person can’t just stay and make money in the other countries? Is the difference in wealth distribution in the world really that great?

Interesting. Lenny and I did the same for a while, now we are back in Milwaukee trying to wholesale and rehab!!
