About Me:
Hello, I'm Ryan. I live in Knoxville, TN with my wife and 3 boys ages 6 and under. We want a big family. We want to glorify Jesus with our lives. We are called to be a spiritual father and mother to many. I left my W2s to serve these statements better, so now I flip houses and am a handyman.
Lifeonaire Vision:
I wake up early before anyone else is awake to fresh coffee in the kitchen. As I walk to it I pass a wall of pictures. Family and people that I’ve poured my life into. It brings me joy to see their faces and be reminded of all the adventures and travels we’ve had together. I bless them as I walk by. I find my seat on the front porch outside with a blanket. I sing a song and open his word, journal, talk with God like he’s sitting next to me, and review a section of my stack of scripture memory verses. He is with me and I am a happy kid. I check my planner and write out the three most critical things I do this day and set myself up to knock them all out of the park before noon. As the sun rises I go to make a second cup of coffee and begin making breakfast for the family. Gen scuffs across the floor in her house shoes and sleepy hair and gives me a sweet smile and kiss as she grabs her coffee and rests her head on my chest for a few seconds before moving to the couch to sit with the Lord. She is at rest and has the look of someone that no longer carries heavy burdens on her shoulders. I put food on the island counter while the kids all slowly fill up the chairs one by one as I sing obnoxiously loud made up songs that everyone hates at first but then makes them laugh and start singing their own lyrics. I pack up the truck and take the kids to their schools and as we drive we drum up what adventures we have over summer break for an entire month and where we should visit. We pray over each person's day and they take off to school.
It’s time to attack my list so I drive to my shared office with a couple close friends and entrepreneurs. It's an intensely productive time but it doesn’t feel stressed or like striving. As I wrap up my list I talk with a couple people on the way out to meet a young man I am discipling for lunch. It’s an exciting meeting and it’s going to be intense so I’m praying the entire way for this man. I’ve met with him for two months now but today is the day I am going to see if he is willing to lay down his life for Jesus. For him it will be his fork in the road. If he says yes, he will become another picture on my wall that I pass every morning. Not a trophy but a genuine brother and companion that would have complete access to my life and someone to pour into. He won’t forget this lunch for the rest of his life whether he says yes or no.
I leave lunch and begin making rounds to my active projects to check in on the progress. As I drive from place to place I call someone on my speed dial list to catch up. At each property I know the workers by name, in fact I know their families names and who is sick and what they do for fun. I pay them well and expect them to do great work and am willing to help them in any way I can. After a couple hours of that I pick up a coffee to surprise Gen with and connect with her for a moment before going to the gym to meet my boxing coach. I train, work out, and spar then head home to spend creative time at my home office/workshop/musicroom for an hour and a half. I check in with my friend who is a local producer and he sends me our latest song track with the band parts included. I send it out to our online community of creatives who admire each other’s work and get inspired by the content of the group.
I find my kids playing around the house with their friends and join them for a game or two then grab Gen a glass of wine and we sit outside while I prepare dinner in our little outdoor kitchen and talk about our day. I date my wife when I am with her and she feels my intention and pursuit for her heart. We call the kids in for dinner around our outside table. There are kids from the neighborhood, friends, and significant others all around our big table and it is filled with laughing and good conversation. Dinner and dessert lingers for hours until it gets dark and we say bye to our guests one by one.
The family goes inside and cleans up together and each person debriefs their day and talks about what they loved and hated about it. We pray together as a family and head to bed. Gen lies against me as we read our books and we talk when there is something worth breaking the concentration of the story over. She is my best friend and there’s nothing I enjoy more than wrestling with an idea or decision with her. I close my eyes and thank God for the life he has given me.
